Great MythConceptions, by Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, works to unveil the secrets behind the myths. Such as Albert Einstein failed school, gold fish have no memory, etc.
When reading this book you learn so much because, well it is really a book that teaches. It's about things you probably don't know. So, it is almost impossible to learn nothing from this book.
One of my favorite quotes in the book so far is "So, low nicotine cigarettes not only deliver the same amount of nicotine, and give you more carbon monoxide, they also lull you into a false sense of security." I love this quote because, not only is it informative, but it is interesting and, yet, disturbing. This section of the book talks about low nicotine cigarettes, and how they deliver the same amount of nicotine to the brain and blood as regular cigarettes. Nicotine is basically what addicts you to cigarettes. Smokers "need" a certain amount of it. So, when they smoke low nicotine cigarettes, the just take longer drags (or sucks), or take more drags, in order to get the same amount of nicotine to the brain. What is scary though, is that most smokers think they are doing better for themselves by only smoking low nicotine cigarettes, but, in reality, they are smoking the same amount as ever before.
